Over the past few days, Iāve shared how burnout hit me hard.
But what I havenāt told you (yet) is why I got there ā and it goes way deeper than stress and long hours.
Sure, I was overworking, chasing recognition that never came, and trying to stay āstrongā in a work environment where showing emotion was⦠not exactly welcomed.
But there was another layer I didnāt see coming ā and honestly, itās one most women arenāt warned about.
Yes, we all technically know we have a menstrual cycle. But do we really understand it?
Spoiler: your hormones are not just making you āmoody.ā Theyāre literally shifting your energy, your focus, your confidence ā and how your nervous system handles stress.
And you know what?
The modern workplace is not designed for any of that.
Itās built around flat, linear productivity⦠not the beautiful, messy, powerful cyclical nature that women live with every month.
Through my own burnout and recovery journey, I discovered Menstrual Cycle Awareness (MCA) ā and let me tell you:
It changed everything.
Iāve been practicing MCA for 5 years, and recently became certified as a Menstruality Mentor through Red School ā pioneers in this space.
When you learn the four seasons of your cycle (yes, you have inner seasons!), and start aligning your life and work with them ā burnout becomes less likely. Clarity becomes easier. Productivity feels more natural.
But hereās the thing:
Not every woman experiences the cycle in the same way.
I live with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) and irregular cycles, so itās been extra important for me to understand how my nervous system gets overstimulated.
And whether youāre postpartum, on hormonal birth control, navigating endometriosis, or just figuring out your rhythm ā it all matters.
𩸠We need to talk more about this. Not just for women, but for the workplaces we live in every day.
And especially for men ā because if you want true inclusion, understanding female energy isnāt optional.
(Spoiler: working in a male-dominated industry didnāt exactly help š )
In the next post, Iāll break down the four phases of the menstrual cycle ā and how aligning with them can reduce stress, improve focus, and bring your power back online.
If youāve ever felt like you were constantly pushing against yourself⦠this is for you.
Letās change the way we work, one cycle at a time.
Are you joining me on this revolution?
